A family farm in the heart of the Cape Floral Kingdom — building something slow, deliberate, and deeply connected to this land.
Who we are
A family farm.
Capeflori is a family farm a few kilometres from the Cederberg Wilderness Area outside Clanwilliam. It is home to Gert le Roux and his wife, their two daughters, and their newborn son.
The farm was incorporated in January 2025 with a clear intention: to work with this landscape rather than against it. The Cederberg sits within the Cape Floral Kingdom — one of the six floral kingdoms of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site — and everything we do here is shaped by that context.
We are registered beekeepers with the Department of Agriculture under the Agricultural Pests Act (registration WC1844, September 2026).
The landscape
The Cape Floral Kingdom
The fynbos biome is one of the most biodiverse places on earth. More than 9,000 plant species grow here — the majority found nowhere else in the world. Proteas, ericas, restios, and buchus form the backbone of the vegetation, and they sustain the Cape honeybee (Apis mellifera capensis), an endemic subspecies unlike any other.
It is the reason the honey will taste the way it does, and the reason we believe beekeeping here is worth doing carefully and well.
